Drivers EDge Reopening Plan

Drivers EDge is delighted to announce that we are resuming our driver training services. As a responsible business, we will be following rigorous and enhanced health protocols to ensure that both students and instructors are kept safe during these trying times. We understand that the last few months have been difficult, but despite these challenges we look forward to getting you back on the road. For more information on our online course please call our Medicine Hat or Lethbridge offices. Thank you for your understanding as we reopen. Drive Safe & Stay Beautiful!

Here are the steps we are taking to ensure the health and safety of our students and instructors:

  • Drivers EDge promotes the practice of good hygiene: wash hands often, cover coughs and sneezes, and avoid touching your face.

  • All Drivers EDge staff will be required to self assess each morning before attending work using AHS’ COVID-19 Self-Assessment.  If any staff member is showing symptoms, they will be required to self isolate for 10 days before returning to work.

  • Drivers EDge will keep contact information for all staff and students, so they can be notified in the event of a known exposure.

  • Drivers EDge reserves the right to adapt and change our health protocols to maintain a safe environment for learning for our staff and students.

In-Vehicle Lessons:

  • When the instructor picks up their student, they will wipe down the interior of the vehicle with provided sanitizer including:  steering wheel, all control switches & arms, gear shift, parking brake, middle consul, belt buckles, seat belt straps, seat adjusting handles, cupholders, inside door handles, window buttons, door locks, rear-view mirror, visors and instructors cell phone. The outside door handles, and frames will also be wiped down.

  • When the instructor greets their student outside of the vehicle, they will be asked the following questions to assess risk.  A “YES” answer will result in the instructor declining service to the student until they have self isolated for 10 days.

  1. Do you have a fever, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, sore throat or runny nose?

  2. Have you travelled to anywhere outside of Canada in the last 14 days?

  3. Have you had close contact with anyone that has travelled outside of Canada in the last 14 days?

  4. Have you or someone you live with had close contact with a confirmed case of Covid-19?

  5. Have you had laboratory exposure to biological material known to contain COVID-19?

  • The student’s licence and cell phone will be wiped down with sanitizer before entering the vehicle.

  • Both the instructor and student will use hand sanitizer for 30 seconds and put on face masks before entering the vehicle. NO MASK = NO DRIVING. (Procedure for putting face masks on & off will be taught)

  • Hand sanitizer will be used anytime the instructor and student get out of the vehicle.

  • When students and the instructor switch places for demo drives, the interior of the vehicle will be wiped down again.

  • The instructor will change to a clean mask before driving with each student and discard the used mask in the proper fashion to reduce risk.

  • When outside of the vehicle the instructor and student will maintain the proper physical distancing of at least 2 meters.

Office Locations:

  • Cleaning and disinfecting of the Drivers EDge offices will be done on a daily basis.  High-touch surfaces such as: doorknobs, light switches, phones, computers, keyboards, desktop, point of sale machine, staffroom area, including microwave and fridge etc.

  • Disinfecting of areas will happen as needed during the workday when anyone attends the business.

  • Hand sanitizer will be available to staff and patrons.

  • Washrooms will be kept in a clean and sanitary condition.  Signage will be posted to inform users of how to mitigate risks of COVID – 19 transmission.  As well as etiquette of bathroom use.  An adequate supply of soap, paper towel, toilet paper and other supplies will be maintained.
